This is another fascinating find! This fish was frozen while devouring another fish. The water most likely became so cold so rapidly that the fish within it instantly froze. It had been discovered by an ice fisherman. Who would have guessed that ice could disclose so many animal kingdom secrets?

Unfortunately, after diving beneath the surface of the water, these birds had experienced a deep freeze from which they would never recover. They appear to have frozen entirely seconds after diving down. The kingfisher was discovered in Bavaria, Germany.
