Sadly, only five years into Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage, it was clear that their union was failing. The Queen and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh even organized a reconciliation meeting between the two, but it was eventually fruitless, and the two split up. Soon later, facts of their marital problems became public, which startled many individuals both inside and beyond the royal family. Although many people believed Diana and Charles would reconcile, the couple divorced in 1996.
