The Trumps said that the delay was made so son Barron could complete fifth grade in New York, even though critics believed she was attempting to evade her obligations as First Lady.

The fact that Melania doesn’t speak English as her first language sets her apart from prior First Ladies. She is the first person to not speak English as a first language. Speaking so many languages would seem to be useful for White House events, but rumors suggest that Melania rarely gave speeches in front of large crowds because of her fairly thick accent.
