Only 70% Of Snakes Lay Eggs
While reptiles normally lay eggs, 30% of snakes give birth to live young. Live births for snakes are either viviparous, meaning they lay eggs, or ovoviviparous, meaning the eggs are hatched inside the mother’s body. It all depends on the species.
Possible Cancer Cure
Native to South America, the Pico Jackfruit snake has potent venom that causes vomiting, diarrhea, blood pressure crash, blindness, and a closed-up throat. If a bite isn’t treated, an adult can die within minutes.
However, scientists are now exploring this venom as a possible cure for cancer. They’re trying to engineer the venom to target only cancer cells.
