When Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, received their first child in February 2021, they decided on a unique way to remember Engines grandpa. August Philip Hawke was the name they gave to their son. Phillip, the baby’s middle name, was given to him in honor of Eugine’s grandfather, Prince Phillip. It is also a middle name shared by the royal newborn, Prince William, and Prince Charles. He was eleventh in line to the throne at the time of his birth.

The House of Windsor, as we know it now, was established in 1917. The first Windsor monarch (King George V) was Queen Elizabeth’s grandfather, and today’s working royals are all descended from both King George and his wife, Queen Mary.
