When Beatrice turned 18 years old in 2006, she stated that she was determined to use her royal position to help charity works. She may have participated in a charity before, but this was her first time to pledge in a campaign. She regularly joined her mother, Sarah Ferguson, whenever she visits several organizations that the Duchess of York supports. Beatrice also founded an organization of her own, Big Change. Along with 6 other friends, they established a charity to help the youth develop skills that cannot be learned within the conventional academic curriculum.
