In a later interview with Near, Burrell mentioned something he had in common with Harry’s wife and his late mother. “Harry pursued and married Meghan because she is similar to Diana,” he said. Both [are] self-sufficient individuals and would never hesitate to stand up about what they believe in.” Despite this, Burrell claims that Meghan and Diana’s similarities may have created some tension if Diana were still alive.

“I think [Diana and Meghan] had a falling out,” Burrell speculated. “I imagine it would have been two powerful, independent women with opposing points of view. It had to come down to Meghan’s and Diana’s preferences.” He did not, though, deny that the two are distinct in many ways.
