Celine’s audition was incredibly emotional. Celine said that Rene actually cried when she started singing. That was her cue to figure out that she did a wonderful job in the audition. She was immediately signed, and Rene knew that she would certainly make a name for herself. But he also knew that she was young and had to learn a lot of things before she started a career. He had a vision and it had to be perfect.

Rene realized that Celine would go on to be a star. In order to make sure that her first album had enough funding, the producer decided to mortgage his house. His sacrifices and hard work paid off when her first single did very well on the Canadian music charts in 1981. Rene was quite a gambler, and this was one of the biggest risks he had taken but it definitely paid off.
