Clare was too frustrated and humiliated to refund the tickets, that it would not be fair. It wouldn’t make up for the horrible night she was going through, and because of that, Clare’s boyfriend, James, requested to speak to the prom’s manager. After the request, Ann Duncan got angry and called another chaperone for help.
