Celebrities Who Dressed Up For Halloween And Totally Rocked Their Costumes

Published on 10/18/2021

Hollywood celebrities, like the rest of us, enjoy Halloween. It’s a chance for them to dress up, go undercover, and blend in with the general public. Because they have so many makeup artists and stylists at their disposal, many celebrities wind up donning amazing costumes to parties and clubs. Some of their bizarre and eerie changes will wow you… You’ll witness Martha Stewart’s scary and hilarious sides!

Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, And Their Children (2013)

Halloween is a highly important event for Neil Patrick Harris, his husband David Burtka, and their children. They opted to dress up like The Munsters characters in 2013. Gideon and Harper, their twins, appear to be equally as enthusiastic about dressing up every year. That year, it was their second set of costumes. They also dressed up as Alice in Wonderland characters. Neil stated in a 2016 interview with Seth Meyers on Late Night with Seth Meyers that his family takes the holiday “very seriously.” We’re pleased they do because we enjoy seeing what imaginative costumes they come up with every year.

Kylie Jenner And Stormi Webster (2018)

In their matching pink butterfly costumes, Kylie Jenner and Stormi Webster are as adorable as can be. Stormi’s expression says it all. She’s looking forward to spending one of her first Halloweens with her millionaire mother. Thank goodness this was simply a mother-daughter outfit. Travis Scott, Jenner’s boyfriend, would have seemed a little out of place in a pink butterfly costume. Still, this was a nice idea that Stormi will be able to look back on with North West and laugh about when they’re older.

John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, And Their Children (2018)

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen appear to have wanted the entire family to do their own thing. While it’s obvious that the wife desired to be a unicorn, the husband found himself admirable and became Prince Charming. Meanwhile, Luna has chosen to be a butterfly princess, while Miles is still safely cradled in his father’s arms. This is a sweet family portrait that they can consider utilizing for their next Christmas cards.

G-Eazy (2018)

G-Eazy, a rapper from the Bay Area, embraced his inner comic book nerd with this appearance. He partied with celebrities such as Harvey Dent and 2 Face, one of Batman’s most infamous enemies. You might recognize him from the Batman: Arkham Asylum flick. He was a fantastic fit for the role. Two separate sides fully represent the villain’s fractured personality. We won’t say it’s the best costume, but it’s executed admirably. We’re curious as to how long the makeup takes to apply.

G Eazy (2018)

Harry Styles (2018)

What could be better than Harry Styles as Elton John? On his Instagram, John gives his seal of approval! John captioned his Instagram image, “Now that’s what I call a Halloween costume.” This is a tribute to Sir Elton John’s performance at Dodger Stadium in 1975. There’s no better method to get respect from those in front of you than to praise them. Imitation is said to be the highest form of flattery, and this costume shouts it.

Rita Ora (2018)

Rita Ora, a pop sensation, opted to dress up as a boy for Halloween 2018. She astonished fans by dressing up as rapper Post Malone and attending the Kiss Haunted House Party. Is it safe to assume she got every detail down to a tee? Ora mentioned Malone on Twitter by saying: “Surprised Wembley as you tonight at my show my fans didn’t even recognize me LOL.” We could barely tell it was her as well.

Rita Ora (2018)

Wiz Khalifa (2018)

Michaelangelo, the Ninja Turtle who loves to eat all the time, was the character who Wiz Khalifa cosplayed as. It’s also rather fitting, considering we know his son, who shares a home with Amber Rose, would certainly adore this concept! Another reason is because of Khalifia’s extracurricular activity, which he enjoys very much. We’ll simply say that anytime he’s finished, he’s always hungry for more. We’ll delegate the task of deciphering what we’re talking about to the readers.

Jerry And Jessica Seinfeld (2018)

Jerry Seinfeld is well-known for being a witty individual. He and his wife Jessica decided to take a leaf from Little Red Riding Hood, an old children’s story. At the GOOD+ Foundation’s 3rd Annual Halloween Bash in Los Angeles, the pair wore these outfits. Remember that the Big Bad Wolf was once dressed as Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother, which is why he’s wearing a hospital gown and a nightgown jumbled together.

Kendall Jenner (2018)

Kendall Jenner is a fembot if you don’t know what she’s supposed to be. The term “fembot” refers to a child who is too young to be considered an adult. “A humanoid robot that is gendered feminine. Gynoids appear widely in science fiction film and art.” She wore it to the Casamigos Halloween party at the Aria Resort and Hotel’s CATCH Las Vegas. This particular fembot is from Austin Powers, and she had a friend that dressed up as Powers to sweeten the bargain.

Halle Berry (2016)

In 2016, Halle Berry dressed up as a skeleton with her daughter Nahla. She posted a photo to Instagram with the caption: “Our costumes are really killin’ it this year, don’t you think?” Berry wore a costume that revealed her “bones,” and her children wore a similar garment. Berry sported a frizzy, long red wig in addition to the body-hugging costume. Makeup artist Lottie S used black and white paint to give the actor a skull-like look. The overall impact was quite striking and powerful. It would be terrifying to come across her skeleton while trick-or-treating!

The Rock (2012)

When it comes to Halloween costumes, some celebrities don’t need to do much because they already look like the characters they’re portraying. Take, for example, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He dressed up as the Hulk in 2012. “Don’t make angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry” ~ The People’s Hulk #HappyHalloween.” He wrote in the caption. It wasn’t a leap for The Rock to cover himself in green paint and dress up like the Marvel character, given his already massive muscles. We’re curious as to what Mark Ruffalo thought of his Hulk impersonation. Our only criticism is that he wears a wig that makes him look a little odd.

Ed Sheeran (2014)

In 2014, singer Ed Sheeran could not have chosen a finer outfit. He decided to dress up as Austin Powers, and the likeness was remarkable. “Yeah, baby!” he captioned the photo, and he gave a fantastic version of the swinging ’60s spy played by Mike Myers on the big screen. Sheeran wore large black frames spectacles, a blue velvet jacket, and a white shirt with ruffled sleeves to get the appearance. He didn’t have to do much with his hair because it was practically identical to the character. “The frills get tangled up in my guitar,” he told audiences, so he wouldn’t wear it while performing.

Gigi Hadid (2015)

At Heidi Klum’s annual Halloween party in 2015, model Gigi Hadid wowed guests with her uncanny likeness to Olivia Newton-John as Sandy Olsson from Grease. With skintight leather trousers and a black off-the-shoulder shirt, Hadid nailed the look. The curly hair was also spot on. Monica Rose, a stylist who regularly works with the Kardashians, helped her accomplish the appearance. Wearing a leather jacket and a cigarette as an accessory, Gigi brought the costume to life. Her red lips complemented her Louis Vuitton high heels. The look was flawless and sultry!

Harrison Ford (2008)

Harrison Ford is a well-known actor in Hollywood. Who doesn’t adore the actor who played Indiana Jones and Han Solo? Even when he isn’t filming a movie, the actor enjoys dressing up. When it comes to Halloween, he doesn’t hold back, and people look forward to seeing what he’ll come up with next year. He wore a peapod outfit in 2008 for no apparent reason. Calista Flockhart, his wife, dressed up as a hippie, while Ford dressed up as a vegetable. Although it’s unclear why he chose that particular outfit, supporters were ecstatic with the unusual choice. Ford deserves praise for his inventiveness.

Katy Perry (2015)

Katy Perry, the pop sensation, enjoys dressing up for Halloween as well. She and her boyfriend Orlando Bloom dressed up as Bill and Hillary Clinton for a party one year. She came up with a very creative costume in 2015. On Instagram, she posted a photo of herself lying on the floor dressed as a microphone. “Drops mic on your Halloween,” she captioned the photo. People were wowed by this inventive outfit, which doubles as a microphone (because there’s nothing worse than being asked, “What are you?”) Katy, you’ve done a fantastic job!

Khloe Kardashian (2016)

Khloe Kardashian of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and her beau Tristan Thompson dressed up as Storm and Black Panther for Halloween in 2016. The reality star dressed up to the nines. To portray the X-Men persona, she used silver makeup and contact lenses, as well as a skintight latex outfit. Some people disliked her appearance, claiming she didn’t look like the role. Others believed she was insignificant in comparison to Beyonce, who has previously dressed up as the superhero. Nonetheless, the outfit grabbed headlines and sparked conversation. She didn’t make the costume entirely on her own; a stylist assisted her in the transition.

Emily Ratajkowski (2015)

Halloween is a popular time for ladies to dress up in attractive outfits without feeling self-conscious about exposing some skin. However, other superstars take the opposite approach. In 2015, model Emily Ratajkowski dressed up as Marge Simpson from The Simpsons. Heidi Klum’s infamous Halloween party had her as one of the visitors. To accomplish the image, Emily painted her skin yellow and wore a huge blue wig. She also wore a strapless dress with Marge’s characteristic red beads and shoes. Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, would undoubtedly have approved of the appearance. She definitely got it right!

Martha Stewart (2016)

Martha Stewart is not just the queen of style, but she is also the successor to the Halloween throne (behind Heidi Klum). In 2016, she dressed up as a creepy nurse and went to a party in New York’s West Village. In tribute to the late musician Prince and visual artist Richard Prince, the party’s theme was “Prince On Prince.” Martha wore an outfit inspired by Richard Prince’s well-known nurse paintings. We have to give Martha a lot of credit for putting her whole heart and soul into her costume. The artificial blood trickling down her face and her crimson eyes completed the look. That’s a creepy nurse!

Kim Kardashian (2014)

Kim Kardashian, a reality star, is another celebrity that enjoys Halloween. The celebrity prioritizes finding the proper look, and in 2014, she shared “Look #1 – Skeleton” on Instagram with her fans. Kim donned a skintight bodysuit with white paint bones drawn on it. To finish the appearance, she applied gothic makeup to her face. Kim isn’t hesitant to show off her assets, so it’s no surprise that she opted for a bodysuit that left nothing to the imagination. You can’t go wrong with skeletons, and they’re such a traditional costume.

Rihanna (2014)

Rihanna dressed up as one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and went out with a group of friends in New York City in 2014. The singer, who went to Opus nightclub with her friends to celebrate the holiday, was tough to spot. To represent Raphael, Rihanna painted her body green and donned a red eye mask. She was dressed in a green and gold catsuit that revealed her cleavage, making her one of the sexiest ninja turtles ever. She completed the ensemble with gladiator heels, elbow-length gloves, and a turtle shell. She preferred to use the sai as a weapon.

Mac Miller And Ariana Grande (2016)

Ariana Grande and her boyfriend Mac Miller dressed up as Trinity and Neo from the “Matrix” movies for Halloween in 2016. On Instagram, Miller captioned their photo with a phrase from the film: “This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.” In that same year, they dressed up as characters from Pokemon Go and Wes Anderson’s film “Moonrise Kingdom.”

Heide Klum (2013)

Because she is such a master of Halloween, model Heidi Klum shows up on this list multiple times. In 2013, she dressed up as an elderly woman for her 14th annual Halloween party in New York City. In the costume, the model was unrecognizable, with wrinkles, age spots, and varicose veins on her legs. She appeared to be 80 years old, despite the fact that she was just 40 years old! She, like Neil Patrick Harris, takes Halloween extremely seriously and puts a lot of thought into her costume each year. “I’d rather stay at home than go out in an uninspired costume,” she once said. What a queen!

Kim Kardashian (2011)

When it comes to Halloween costumes, Kim Kardashian is no slouch. She wowed viewers in 2011 with her portrayal of supervillain Poison Ivy. On Twitter, she wrote: “Glamming up for my Midori Halloween party at Lavo tonight! I have bright red hair! OMG this is kray!” Joyce Bonelli and Rob Scheppy, two Hollywood makeup artists, assisted her. To play the DC Comics character, she wore a red wig and an outfit composed of shimmering green leaves. Poison Ivy was played by Uma Thurman in the 1997 film “Batman & Robin.” Kim did an amazing job of personalizing the appearance.

Jay Z And Beyonce (2016)

Couples who dress up in Halloween costumes together are more likely to stay together. Beyonce and Jay Z dressed up as Barbie and Ken in 2016 with their daughter Blue Ivy. Beyonce wore a bright pink fur jacket with a striped black and white bodysuit. The outfit was completed with a high ponytail and scarlet lipstick. Her husband, dressed in a black tuxedo with a silver bow tie, accompanied her. He completed his ensemble with a bouffant wig. Their daughter was dressed in a leather jacket with the word “Barbie” inscribed across the back. The celebs showed up in boxes at a party, cocking their heads like the famed dolls.

Miley Cyrus (2015)

Miley Cyrus and a friend dressed up as a tooth and the Tooth Fairy in 2015. Their costumes have a very simple but imaginative feel about them. She shared a snapshot of the two of them joining arms on Instagram. Miley was dressed in a basic cotton “tooth” dress with white stockings. Her hair was pulled back into a headband. Her pal was decked out in fairy wings and a crown. This type of costume is wonderful because it’s not too difficult to put together and won’t be too uncomfortable to wear at a party or club. When Miley came up with that notion, she understood exactly what she was doing!

Martha Stewart (1998)

Martha Stewart dressed up as a bodyboarder at Bette Midler’s 2nd Annual Halloween Ball in 1998, demonstrating her sense of humor. She wore a full suit wetsuit (which gets fairly warm when worn indoors!) and brought two bodyboards with her to indicate she’s ready to paddle out. You can tell Martha can’t stop laughing as she makes her way through the celebration at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, a far cry from the frightening nurse garb.

Tom Brady And Gisele Bundchen (2013)

In 2013, Tom Brady and his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen dressed up as “The Wizard of Oz” for Halloween. Gisele donned a Dorothy costume, complete with a little gingham dress and knee-high socks. Her blonde hair was tied back into pigtails. Her husband was dressed as a fearful lion. “Having fun with my Lion last night!” Gisele captioned a photo of the two of them on Twitter. Without their children, the couple went to a costume party in Boston. Even though Halloween is generally a children’s festival, adults like dressing up as well.

Kelly Ripa and Regis Philbin’s stand-in, Nick Lachey, dressed up as Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries on their wedding day in 2011. In August of that year, the reality star and NBA player married in a lavish ceremony that was broadcast on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. As a result, Ripa and Lachey decided to dress up as the newlyweds for their talk show’s Halloween episode, but it couldn’t have come at a worse time. Kardashian and Humphries announced their divorce the next day, November 1, 2011, ending their infamous 72-day marriage.

Katy Perry (2016)

Katy Perry’s Halloween costumes, in case you hadn’t noticed, stray from sexy and try for uniqueness. In 2016, the pop star dressed up like Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee at the time. Perry went all out for this one, even using prosthetics to look frighteningly similar to the former first lady. Clinton reacted positively to photographs of Perry’s costumes, telling Extra, “Oh my — look at that! This is shocking — oh, my gosh. This is great! She could be me when we finish the campaign.” During the 2016 presidential election, Perry was a vocal backer of Clinton.

Cher (1988)

Singer Cher has been recognized for wearing some of the most extravagant dresses on the red carpet and elsewhere over the years, even when it wasn’t Halloween. Cher, on the other hand, turned up to the party dressed as Cleopatra for Halloween in 1988, and we must say, she did a fantastic job with her costume. Cher most likely dazzled everyone at that year’s Halloween celebration with her exquisite clothing and even more spectacular hairdo. Of course, they weren’t surprised when she turned up in the evening’s most eye-catching costume.

Iggy Azalea (2013)

Iggy Azalea, an Australian rapper, stole the spotlight at the Vevo Halloween party in 2013 by dressing up as Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations. Azalea’s wardrobe is flawless, and while she didn’t wear Cruella’s iconic black dress with a white fur coat, we’re confident that this is an ensemble the villainess would wear in the contemporary day. Azalea looks really believable in her costume with her half-black and half-white ‘do, and she even brought a real-life dalmatian for an extra effect! We’re confident, though, that she would not have hurt the cute puppy in the least.

Harrison Ford And Calista Flockhart (2012)

In case you didn’t notice from the “hip-pea” costume you saw previously, actor Harrison Ford and his wife always do the best pair costumes. They’re dressed as an elderly couple in this photo, but we think they seem more like the couple from Pixar’s Up. He’s already in his seventies, but you wouldn’t know it if it weren’t for the costume—which either demonstrates how young Ford is in real life or how brilliant he is at creating convincing costumes. With the next slide, you’ll see how Ford always brings his A-game when it comes to costumes…

Harrison Ford (2010)

Harrison Ford is costumed as a nun in this scene. Don’t let Ford’s unenthusiastic facial expression fool you. We believe he is wearing a solemn demeanor because, after all, he is supposed to be a nun. Ford, being a celebrity, can certainly afford to wear high-end outfits and special effects makeup, or he can just wear his costume from one of his films (Han Solo or Indiana Jones, anyone?). Ford, on the other hand, deserves praise for his creativity and the DIY quality of his costumes. Harrison Ford is the unsung King of Halloween if there is such a thing.

Matthew Morrison (2010)

Matthew Morrison from Glee had a Halloween bash in West Hollywood in 2010. Morrison dressed up as fitness guru Richard Simmons for his own event. Morrison wore Simmons’ signature curly hair and ultra-short spandex shorts to accomplish this appearance. The party itself was a low-key star-studded affair, with Christina Aguilera, Lauren Conrad, Chad Michael Murray, and, of course, Morrison’s Glee co-stars in attendance. We can’t help but wonder how Simmons felt about the makeover, but given his normally upbeat demeanor, we’re guessing he liked it.

Isla Fisher (2012)

Someone disguised up as a sock monkey, and actress Isla Fisher eventually revealed herself to be the sock monkey. No one would have guessed she was hiding beneath the weird sock monkey head at the moment! Fisher and her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen, went out in full-body costumes in 2012, rendering them virtually unrecognizable. For whatever reason, Sacha Baron Cohen dressed up as a cow with a gorilla ski mask. In any case, the costumes were amusing and unusual, demonstrating that the stunning actress has a fantastic sense of humor—after all, she is married to the actor who portrayed Borat.

Seal (2010)

We’re not sure what’s going on here, but this is musician Seal attending one of his then-yearly wife’s Halloween bashes, in case you couldn’t tell. And, of course, as the host’s spouse, why wouldn’t he dress up in a fantastical costume? Seal is most likely a metal man or a robot, according to our best guess. Seal appears to be alone in this photo, which is appropriate given that the pair split in 2014. However, you’ll soon see one of their best pair costumes from back when they were together!

Kylie Jenner And Tyga (2014)

Tyga and then-girlfriend Kylie Jenner dressed up as Chucky and Bride of Chucky in 2014, when they were still a hot-button relationship engulfed by controversy over their age difference (among other things). We’ll admit that Tyga’s costume is very spectacular, given that he went to great lengths to obtain Chucky’s clothes and his insane red hair. He even had blood smeared all over his face! Kylie’s outfit is also rather impressive, though she could have gone a step further by donning a blonde wig and placing a beauty mark above her lip. Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott, dubbed “Kyga,” split up in 2017, and Kylie is thought to be pregnant with her current beau, Travis Scott.

Matt Lauer (2013)

For their Halloween special in 2013, the hosts of Today paid tribute to Baywatch. Matt Lauer dressed as Pamela Anderson, claiming that hair, makeup, and prosthetics took him 30 minutes to complete. Lauer described the look to Ellen DeGeneres, saying, “It was supposed to be a tribute to Pamela Anderson. I look more like Dee Snider with fake boobs! It’s not a great look.” Pamela Anderson told Today that she was shocked when she saw photos of Lauer dressed in her likeness, saying, “Matt, he’s sexy in a red swimsuit! I’ve seen that… You know you’ve made it when you’re a Halloween costume.”

Fergie (2011)

Fergie decided to dress up like a competitor from Toddlers & Tiaras when she went to Heidi Klum’s Halloween Party in 2011. Fergie even enlisted the help of costume designer Marco Marco, who stated, “It’s completely encrusted in Swarovski crystal, as are the shoes. The pink Teddy bear doubles as her purse. And the crown was customized to match the dress.” Fergie looks lovely, despite the fact that she’s supposed to be disguised as a child (which, admittedly, is a little strange). However, since it’s Halloween, everyone is free to dress up as strangely as they like!

Katy Perry (2014)

Katy Perry dressed up as a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto at Kate Hudson’s Halloween bash in Los Angeles in 2014. Perry definitely didn’t have to worry about someone else showing up at the same concert because he’s probably the only one who would conceive of such a thing (especially since most female celebs at the party opted for a sexy costume). Perry is decked up in full Cheeto garb, with a crimson Cheeto costume underneath. She completed her look with a Hot Cheeto purse and red lips. Katy Perry has made it clear that she prefers the snack, so it’s only fitting that she dressed up as one.

Adam Lambert (2013)

Adam Lambert, a former member of American Idol, dressed up like a genie for a 2013 event in Los Angeles. It’s only one of Lambert’s Halloween costumes from that year, and we think he deserves a round of applause for his genie impersonation. If you couldn’t tell, he painted his entire face and chest blue, as well as his legs (although he may be wearing blue tights, we’d like to assume he put 100 percent effort into this). The genie’s peacock-inspired clothing is also amazing, adding to the exotic nature of his suit.

Heide Klum And Seal (2011)

We know we discussed their breakup before, but we couldn’t leave this couple’s costume off the list! Heidi Klum and Seal attended her party dressed as primates back in 2011 when they were still together. The model and vocalist are practically indistinguishable because of the highly realistic outfits, especially the outstanding facial paint. Klum even added prosthetic breasts to her suit to make it clear that she was a woman. We can only imagine how long these costumes took to put together! Ms. Klum clearly takes Halloween seriously, as we have another fantastic Klum costume to show you.

Nick Cannon (2008)

Nick Cannon dressed up as a milk carton for Halloween in 2008. Isn’t there a question on the front of his suit that says, “Got cookies?”? Cannon did, after all, have cookies at the time. His then-wife, music sensation Mariah Carey, was dressed up in a cute-but-sexy chocolate chip cookie attire, and this is just one side of a couple’s costume. Cannon and Carey were still on their honeymoon at the time because they had only married the previous year. Nick Cannon filed for divorce in 2014, after they had previously separated, after having twins after six years of marriage. Talk about spoiled milk…

Adam Levine (2010)

Adam Levine of Maroon 5 is costumed like John McClane from the Die Hard film series. In 2010, he attended a Halloween celebration sponsored by his band and Bacardi, and he was dressed to impress. Some may argue that Levine’s version of Bruce Willis’ legendary character is sexier, but we’ll simply say that we have to give him credit for how much he looks like that despite the amount of grit he put into this costume. This is just one of Levine’s more amazing costumes; in recent years, he’s been seen in a couple’s costume with his wife, Behati Prinsloo.

Heide Klum (2008)

Heidi Klum dressed up as Kali, the Hindu goddess of destruction, for her party in 2008. Klum went all out, making herself totally blue and donning a costume with additional arms, as Kali is sometimes represented in this manner. Klum’s costume, however, did not go unnoticed by the Hindu community, who felt it offended them. According to the Times of India, American Hindu leaders requested an apology from Klum, but one never came. Let this serve as a warning to you, readers: it’s usually better to avoid appropriating other cultures solely for the sake of Halloween.

Colton Haynes (2014)

On Halloween 2014, actor Colton Haynes, who plays on Arrow, stunned everyone by dressing up as Princess Fiona from Shrek as an ogre. The costume was incredible, and we have to praise Haynes for his boldness and sense of humor. Haynes did have a lot of help from prosthetics and makeup experts, who helped him achieve his “dream costume,” as he put it. Haynes outdid himself the following year when he dressed as Ursula from The Little Mermaid. Haynes is a relatively unknown name in Hollywood, but he has already established himself as a serious Halloween player.

Amy Schumer (2016)

For Halloween 2016, Amy Schumer and her boyfriend Ben Hanisch dressed up as Dustin and Eleven from the Netflix hit program Stranger Things. Stranger Things swept the nation that year, and it is now considered a cult classic among fans. With that said, Schumer’s outfit was spot-on for the era, and she and Hanisch pulled it off in the loveliest way possible. It was even more ideal for her boyfriend to dress up as Eleven because he is the one who had a shaved head, which Eleven has in the first season of the show.
