Scope of the Mongol Empire
While we are all aware that the Mongol Empire was massive, this map shows exactly how massive it was. It was the world’s biggest empire from the 13th through the 14th century and is still regarded as such. This specific map represents the empire’s size in 1279. At its peak, the empire covered nine million square miles.
