After giving the operator her address, Sophie waited. She answered all of the operator’s inquiries while being on the phone with him the entire time. He questioned her on essential matters like if her mother was breathing and whether she was harmed. However, the ambulance was taking a very long time to come.

Sophie had no concept of time; she was only four years old. She didn’t even hear the sirens, but even she could see that the ambulance should have been there by this point. Despite not knowing if her mother could hear her or not, she continued to be at her mother’s side and comforted her.
