A locked door
Sophie felt her heart race in her chest. This was something she had never experienced before. Someone cried, “Sophie, we need you to open the door for us,” from the other side of the door.
However, that was harder than they had imagined. The door doorknob was much too high for Sophie to reach.

Despite her attempts to reach the handle with her toes, she was only able to touch it with her fingertips. “It’s beyond my reach,” Sophie replied. She wasn’t going to give up, though.
She was aware that she needed to let those men in. They could never assist her mother otherwise.
