If you’re a fan of the 60s, then you’re probably familiar with the Woodstock image. This festival was supposed to be a small meeting of like-minded citizens, and activities that reflected the hippie age, and all it portrayed. These old photographs carry you back to this moment—a historical period when harmony didn’t feel too out of control.
Bubbles
In this photograph, the free-spirited woman is clearly loving life and blowing bubbles. Why has Woodstock been such a symbol? The picture is worthy of capturing what being free actually entails, not just in the sense of harmony, but also in the sense of isolation.

The Flute
This member of the crowd takes it upon itself to hold the music flowing in between sets when performing. Her mood and that of the people around her capture the pure joy from only living life, and enjoying music that these people felt.

Enjoying the View
This picture may very well be what comes immediately to mind when you hear the word hippies: with no care in the world, these guys have the best seat in the house, and it looks like they enjoy every moment.

Tim Hardin
On the first day of the event, the iconic Tim Harden performed. Hardin made headlines that day with nothing but his guitar and vocals. The sight of a pensive Tim Hardin is extra emotional because of his horrific death from an opioid overdose.

Resting
This guy finds the ideal location to relax in between two vehicles with a cap shielding his eyes and his legs spread out. It’s that no matter where you are if you can take something away from this shot, there’s still time for some time.

Sri Swami Satchidananda
Without Sri Swami Satchidananda, you can’t read Woodstock. At the beginning of the festival, this iconic guru gave the opening speech informing all the attendees of the value of music and the function it plays in harmony. Surely he inspired his audience. The four-day festival is renowned for getting limited influence but is one of the most peaceful activities in history.

Joe Cocker
On the last day of the concert, Joe Cocker performed. Although he may not have been the greatest celebrity at this time, his energy during the performance has impressed others in particular in this frame.

Fortunetelling
Woodstock is not only great with concerts, but it also has something to do with faith and knowing one’s self. This picture of one woman reading the palm of another woman highlights the transparency carried with them by people who attended this festival.

Nap Time
It is probably impressive to take a moment to sleep on the top of a car in the midst of a festival of millions of fans. It’s also a beautiful sign of love and happiness, loving the other half in the middle of all the craziness and living life.

Sharing is Caring
Its sense of cooperation and sharing was part of what made Woodstock so distinctive. In this photo, a meal is being served at the festival for everybody, part of the love-all sensation that emanated at this period.

Being Carefree Also Means Caring
At Woodstock, there were many trained nurses to support with anything they could. Tragically, during the festival, there were a few deaths, but also several births. The case got a couple of mixed feedback for this. This picture reflects the loving emotion that was such a significant part of the festival, whatever your feelings.

Family Event
For young adults, Woodstock was not just for them. Several families were coming along for fun. Here is an image of a chilling dad grooving outside their psychedelic minivan with his pups… far out!

And the Audience Goes Wild
On a 600-acre dairy estate, 500,000 visitors would definitely make an impact on you. It is a sight to see this blur of wood stickers coming together to have a fun time. It’s amusing to consider it just sold 100,000 tickets. Maybe love and harmony really shouldn’t cost anything.

Staying Clean
At this festival, keeping clean would have been a bit demanding. In the first place, you have to admire these individuals for still wanting to wash up. A little dirt did no damage to anybody!

Medical Emergencies
For an event affecting 500,000 individuals, accidents are bound to occur. This photo reveals the festival’s less easy-going portion. Helicopters travelled with rescue equipment a variety of times. Behind this unforgettable time in history, this emergency group reflects the unsung heroes.

Old School
Today, without social media and smartphones, it’s impossible to recall a period, allowing us direct communication with our loved ones. This photo is vital to us now as it shows us journalists documenting the activities by hand, and people having communication with a good old-fashioned phone with friends and loved ones.

Melanie Safka
When offered the chance to perform at the festival after the cancellation of The Amazing String Band, Melanie Safka made her big break. She was one of the only three women at the event who played. She was able to pull off a flawless and unforgettable show, amid her nerves, which she said caused her voice to quiver.

Melanie Safka
Janis Joplin
One of the most loved artists of all time is Janis Joplin. She gave a goosebumpy presentation of Piece of My Heart on the second day of the festival. Janis Joplin definitely belongs on the Woodstock stage with her distinctive persona and exceptional abilities.

Dealing with Rain
Some people may claim that their blankets are covered with sweat. This pair is not! In this photo, they clearly take things as they are. As he does, one of them is also smoking smoke. Learned lesson: Life occurs. You ought to wake up and live with things occasionally.

Knowledge is Power
The best moment to read is always right. Ask the man on the porch. Woodstock was not all about dances and music. It was also about stepping away from reality, having a pure, unfiltered, perched-in-the-air reflection for a little while.

Woodstock Designed
It would be these decorations if you had to choose the official style to represent Woodstock. Even today in their dorms, you can see some nostalgic college students hanging these designs up. Certain statements are really ageless.

Catching Zzs Where You Can
As you might guess, it can be a struggle to find time and place to sleep in a complete music festival. The man actually found the best position on a motorbike with a cushion below his head and a great view of the crowd (just in case he misses anything).

Sleeping like the Dead
Others considered the cemetery as the ideal place to camp out. Although this might not have been an inherently respectful thing to do it definitely played into the spirit of the circle-of-life emerging from the festival.

Woodstock Chic
A carefree look arrives with a carefree mentality. This cheerful Woodstock pair embodies this sensation of feeling the freedom completely: loose hair, unattended beards, and relaxed, vibrant clothing. Who wouldn’t be free with these laid back styles?

Jimi Hendrix & the Gypsy Suns and Rainbows
Jimi Hendrix often provided a memorable performance. The impromptu assemblage of a new band consisting of musicians who never played before that day made his Woodstock appearance exceptionally unforgettable! After their Woodstock success, Gypsy Suns and Rainbows didn’t last long, but their memories certainly persisted.

People, People, People
Participating in Woodstock required engaging in some tight crowds. Even so in this shot, the feeling of togetherness is undoubtedly felt. It is definitely a sight to see so many people connected by their passion for music.

Listening to the Beat
It looked as though the music was running through people’s veins during the festival. There was nothing else but music and self-expression that mattered. This picture captures this moment completely, with certain individuals using barrels as their tools. It’s fascinating to know so many people they hadn’t yet met will play music together! If there could be this feeling of inclusiveness anywhere…

Safe and Warm
The air of love and harmony that held the festival running and made it into an unforgettable moment in history is completely illustrated in this cozy picture. These young lovebirds seem like they are more than at ease about where they are when sunshine continues to fill the clouds.

Decked Out
Although Woodstock is often synonymous with bright clothes, plenty, including this young lady, who went for the all-black, mega-cool look, opted for different models. The uniqueness of this festival was that connected just by a common love of peace and culture. It was a space for everyone to be themselves.

Missing out on Concerts Doesn’t Mean Missing Out on Music
The unique speaker columns installed would have performed just fine with the initially planned amount of persons, 200,000 at most, according to Bill Hanley, the guy behind the sound systems for the festival. But it was expected to be when 500,000 people ended up watching the shows, that not all would get to hear their favorite musicians. No menace, though! The welcoming environment indicated that music was always playing, and there was plenty for all to hear. People like this guy take it upon themselves, even in areas like the parking lot, to produce a fantastic show!

Car Roofs Have Multiple Uses
People were pretty imaginative in such a busy case, where their cars were located… and for that matter, themselves. Another indication of the infinite creativity individuals shown to locate a suitable viewing place is these people chilling on top of their vehicles. Creativity, folks! It’s a thing…

Chilling with the Trees
People were pretty relaxed with nature in the spirit of Woodstock. Trees were a complete haven to curl up in the shade and relax. A better solution to ACs, definitely, because these people surely appear to be loving their time!

Just Me and My Guitar
This guy only reveals thoroughly what Woodstock was all about: music, imagination, self-reflection, and existence. While Woodstock was crowded, needless to say, people somehow still seemed to take the time to accept loneliness and make. For every aspiring singer at the moment, it was the best place to be.

Got Milk?
We could have noted a few times that this festival took place on a dairy farm… well let’s assume people took full advantage of that reality… like this guy who wanted to get some fresh milk from the available tools.

High Ways and Highways
Woodstock provided an incentive for young people to pursue their own paths and passions at a period when life seemed overwhelming and without guidance. This sense of liberation from constriction is illustrated by these pleasant signals surrounded by nature.

The Less Groovy Side of Things
Sadly, in big crowds, road collisions are unavoidable; Woodstock was no exception. It’s sad but real that during this case, loads of people got injured. But it’s also true that the aura of caring and togetherness ensured that while they were needed, there were lots of people able to interrupt what they were doing and support.

Flower Power!
No wonder, so many films based on Woodstock have been made! Only look at how content and lovely this pair is! We can’t help but imagine them to be the key component of a romantic Woodstock tale!

Dancing for the Rain
They probably imagine something that is not unlike this illustration when people hear the terms hippie dance. Yet dances like these, openness to modern traditions and a sacred union, was part of what made Woodstock so great. Indeed, way out!

Far Out Cruising
Some pictures make one think that this theme existed now. It’s all too groovy to tackle the sweater, the hair, the motorbike! Probably “I hope that our look never goes out of style!” was what that woman muttered. ”

Tie-Dye-lightful!
Without tie-dye, we can’t spell Woodstock! Yeah, maybe, but…you’ll get it. Tie-dye was the unofficial dress code for many Woodstock festival-goers. And we can see why with those vivid, meshed shapes. Just in case you wondered where people got their long-distance attire, here in this image, you have your answer…

Making a Difference
Woodstock became a symbol of harmony, affection and interaction by music in such a time of rifts and near minds. This illustration of people seated together and gazing at various fields of vision symbolizes that.

“Our Culture, Our Music, Our Art”
John Sinclair summed up everything Woodstock meant when he said: “The message is freedom: our culture, our art, our music, our books, our posters, our clothing… our hair grows longer and eats and sleeps – it’s all a message.” This, exactly, was the festival – a place to set away from the biases, your links to reality, and do what people are born for…

Inside The Fisheye Teepee
Fish-eye pictures were not just too popular in Woodstock, but these people were fortunate enough to have a fish-eye teepee, but they had a fabulous image. Smartly put their camera in the center of their teepee on the field, and this was the end product.

Lotus Or Ustrasana?
In the 1960s, yoga was widespread, and at every Woodstock Festival, it was no different. Many people have taken the time not only to practice new yoga poses but also to get their regular yoga dose in the center of the action. Without yoga, no Woodstock event was ever total.

Two Hours Of Down Time
It was not always the simplest thing to sleep when taking Woodstock, and those that were unlucky enough to have little security had to do with the environment. The music lasted 48 hours, between Saturday noon and Monday noon, and the quiet lasted just two hours.

Santana
Until people went to Woodstock, they didn’t realize who Santana was. That was before, on the second day, Santana took to the floor, performing a memorable performance. The punk band from San Francisco was really new to the music scene and recorded their first album just last month.

Woodstock VS Coachella
This is undoubtedly the epitome of the “coolest” Woodstock pair. Her long Bohemian type dress back in the 1960s was so trendy. But if we equate it with 2019 Coachella trend, not much has improved, right? How do we forget about her beautiful blonde waves and the stunning shape of this man?

Instant Gratification
This image is a perfect example of the sheer pleasure of the hundreds of thousands Woodstock felt. Woodstock was full of electric energies and purity in the 1960s, from peace signs and large laughing faces. All who goes to Woodstock had the finest experience of their lives and could not wait until the following awesome event.

Sharing is Caring
Sharing was a big theme throughout the 3 days of peace and music, especially when everybody felt absolutely united. Naturally, individuals ensured that during the festival, there was enough food to feed around 400 000 mouths. Sadly, however, stuff didn’t go as expected, which means that they wanted to share. Yet they did not notice, as positivity and compassion were being promoted.

Family Friendly
There was no position or time for any sort of prejudice at Woodstock. This implied that they were permitted to be there regardless of the person, age, ethnicity or gender. So these meant parents were going to take their kids with them. But that’s not the best thing. There were only a handful of kids delivered over the 3 days during the festival. Pretty wonderful, huh?
