When offered the chance to perform at the festival after the cancellation of The Amazing String Band, Melanie Safka made her big break. She was one of the only three women at the event who played. She was able to pull off a flawless and unforgettable show, amid her nerves, which she said caused her voice to quiver.

One of the most loved artists of all time is Janis Joplin. She gave a goosebumpy presentation of Piece of My Heart on the second day of the festival. Janis Joplin definitely belongs on the Woodstock stage with her distinctive persona and exceptional abilities.
