It was difficult to go to the movies in the 1980s without seeing Kathleen Turner. She appeared in a number of notable films, including Body Heat, Romancing the Stone, Prizzi’s Honor, The War of the Roses, and Peggy Sue Got Married. Her smoldering beauty and seductive voice made her a perfect choice for the role of femme fatale in Hollywood. She won a Golden Globe for Best Actress and was nominated for an Academy Award during the decade.

Kathleen Turner has little control over her transformation from a sex siren to a normal citizen. She was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in the 1990s, which caused her excruciating pain and forced her to use a wheelchair. Some criticized the medicine prescribed for her recuperation since it caused general weight gain and bloating. Turner, like many other female actors, was pushed out of the spotlight, and her acting opportunities switched from “star” to “mother” or “grandmother.” Her arthritis has luckily gone into remission in recent years, and she has appeared in a number of guest roles on television shows such as Friends, Nip/Tuck, and Californication. We’re relieved she’s looking and feeling better.
