Now and again, Cal and Claire would remember that they still had a long way to go before they would be finishing this project. At one point, they had a washing machine on the construction site and the electricity to work it, but it couldn’t handle the Scottish mud that covered all the gloves and clothes that everyone wore daily. So, they had to find another alternative to get their clothes clean.

Nothing Is Off Limits
Claire has been trying to think of creative solutions and out-of-the-box ideas. Suddenly, it came to her; she decided to follow in her ancestors’ footsteps and take a leaf out of their book. She did her washing in the stream. After soaking her clothes there, she put up a line and hung up all her clothes to dry out in the sun.
