Her mother remained silent. Sophie’s heart started pounding. Her tiny frame began to tremble with fear, and her eyes began to fill with tears. She was desperate and unsure of what to do. But she recognized by now that there may be a serious problem. Sophie was alone herself and at a loss for what to do.
