Lieutenant Uhura – Nichelle Nichols
There is just so much to say when it comes to the legendary Lieutenant Uhura. Firstly, Nichelle Nichols’s role as Lieutenant Uhura was completely revolutionary as she was the first African American female character that appeared on American TV and was not portrayed as a servant. However, at a certain point, Nichols thought of leaving the show, but she later changed her mind after she was personally asked to stay by the civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. After the Star Trek franchise came to an end, she went on to star in many other TV shows and films. She even released two music albums. Another spectacular achievement of hers was the fact that she was part of a special NASA project that helped recruit minority and female personnel. Today 88-year-old Nichelle looks absolutely terrific!
Lt. Tasha Yar – Denise Crosby
In the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Denise Crosby played the role of Security Chief Tasha Yar. However, in the subsequent seasons, she played Yar’s own daughter, a half-Romulan Commander Sela. Upon the conclusion of Star Trek, Crosby went on to appear in a wide range of both film and TV shows. Some of them were, NCIS, Prison Break, and The Exterminator. The actress is a mom to August Sylk.
