In spite of the fact that Peter does not have particularly good eyesight, he is still able to detect the snake from a considerable distance due to the vivid colors that it possesses.

Peter, perhaps acting a little rashly, made the decision to approach the snake in order to get a better look at the creature. Because the snake was still in the same location, he was afraid that it had possibly perished in that location. But that turned out not to be the case at all, as the Snake attacked him out of seemingly nowhere!
